Crewkerne Town Council works alongside South Somerset District Council and Somerset County Council to provide a range of services for the community. In April 2023 South Somerset District Council will cease to exist and the new Somerset Council unitary authority will take over many of its functions.

- Education (nursery, schools, special needs and adult social services)
- Highways/transport (strategic planning, public transport, road maintenance, byways, street lighting – some jointly)

- Refuse and recycling disposal (managed by Somerset Waste Partnership)
- Registration of births, marriages and deaths
- Social services (elderly, people with disabilities, children) and inspection
